This design has been inspired by the one of the most ancient games that originated in India, Chess which was initially called 'Ashtapada'. The game then came to be called as 'Chaturanga' during the rule of Gupta Empire. Persians who travelled to ancient India had picked up the game and named it as Shatranj.
This saree is a piece of handmade luxury. It is a premium silk which has been handcrafted by using warp and weft method of weaving. Generally it takes 20-25 days to complete production of one saree.
